Transport Standards reforms: have your say at a public consultation event
The Australian Government is responsible for the Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport 2002 (Transport Standards). To improve public transport accessibility and ensure the Transport Standards reflect the current and future needs of people with disability, the Australian Government is conducting a reform process and public consultation program.
People with disability, their families and carers, advocacy groups, the transport industry and government, are invited to provide feedback on the proposed Stage 2 reforms through a program of public consultation events starting from today until mid-July 2022.
There are a range of ways to participate, including:
- webinars
- community workshops
- online discussion boards
- industry / disability sector roundtables and targeted focus groups.
You can also have your say on the proposed Transport Standards reforms by:
- writing a submission to DisabilityTransport@infrastructure.gov.au
- calling 1800 621 372
- completing an online survey
A Stakeholder Kit including key messages, summary documents, factsheets and a range of social media materials is available to promote the package of reforms. The kit includes translations into Easy English and Auslan plus 10 other languages: Arabic, French, Greek, Hindi, Italian, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Traditional Chinese and Vietnamese.
Consultation closes: 11:59PM Tuesday 9 August 2022.
